when I was about 7, recently immigrated to the U.S. He had married your mother, my oldest sister. He drove a white Toyota (corolla I think). He was a model senior-son-in-law in the family: staid, kind, soft-spoken. To me, he has always been that figure of stability, much needed in our extended family which has seen more than its share of turmoil.
